Committees' recent meetings - 2 September 2019

Summary of Kurdistan Parliament committees’ recent meetings and activities: 

Culture, Civil Society, Sports and Youth Committee

2 September - The committee held their usual meeting, led by committee chair Luqman Wardi (PUK). They discussed a bill on advertising submitted by members and advisers to the committee. The purpose of the bill is to scrutinize, organize and regulate advertising in the Kurdistan region. They also decided to visit the Kurdistan Olympics Committee to learn about their problems and requests. The committee discussed all the notes, requests, and reports submitted by the public and replied to them in detail.  

Municipalities, Transport, Communication, Travel, Tourism, Reconstruction and Investment Committee

2 September - The committee met to discuss the notes and reports submitted by the Parliament's Presidency. They also discussed problems and shortcomings in the tourism sector and historic sites, as the local residents have asked for jobs there which they say are given to foreigners, especially in oil-rich areas. The meeting was led by the committee chair, Mr. Hawre Mala Star (PUK). 

Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside KRG Administrative Area 

2 September - The committee met representatives of the victims and affected citizens from the district of Tuz Khurmatu, and discussed their most pressing problems and main requests. The MPs pledged to follow-up on their demands and help to solve their problems.
