Kurdistan Parliament delegation meets with Kurdistan Islamic Union Secretary General Salahaddin Bahaaddin
A Kurdistan Parliament delegation to Slemani, headed by Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci on 9 September met with the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) party. Mr. Salahaddin Bahaaddin, General Secretary of the Kurdistan Islamic Union welcomed the delegation.
The parliament delegation emphasised the need for cooperation between different political parties on issues in the national interest, and on drafting the Kurdistan Region constitution in this four-year term. They also asked the Kurdistan Islamic Union to support parliament’s work on financial reforms and negotiations with Baghdad.
The parliament delegation included MPs of the KIU. They also discussed with the KIU leadership supporting the KRG’s programme, increasing coordination between the Kurdistan Parliament and the Kurdish blocks in Iraq’s Council of Representatives (parliament), institutionalizing Kurdistan region’s organizations, and motivating Kurdish political parties to have one unified list in Iraq’s provincial council elections.
The leadership of the Kurdistan Islamic Union congratulated Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency on their election. They reiterated their support for parliament’s role and also emphasised cooperation on the major political issues facing Kurdistan.
