Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci on 16 September met with five Turkmen political parties and asked them to support policies that are critical to Kurdistan’s national interests.
The Presidency had one meeting with the Turkmen Front led by Mr. Aydin Marouf, head of the party’s Erbil office, and Turkmen Front MP Mr. Himdad Sabah Bilal.
They also held another meeting with four parties jointly: Mr. Kanaan Shakir, Head of the Independent Turkmen; Mr. Delshad Chawishly, Head of the Turkmen Democratic Party of Kurdistan; Mr. Irfan Kirkuki, Head of the Turkmen People’s Party; and Mr. Kawa Muhammad Ibrahim, Deputy Head of Turkmen Development Party. Ms. Sara Chawshli Turkmen Development Party MP also participated in the meeting.
Parliament’s Presidency asked them to help form a national coalition on drafting the Kurdistan Constitution, carrying out reforms in the KRG institutions, protecting the rights of all Kurdistan's communities including religious and ethnic minorities, and supporting the current Baghdad-Erbil negotiations to resolve unsettled disagreements.
The leaders of the parties gave their support to the Parliament Presidency’s efforts to build a national consensus on the important issues for Kurdistan.
