Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets Korea’s Consul General Mr. Kwang-Jin Choi

Kurdistan Parliament’s Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq welcomed Mr. Kwang-Jin Choi, South Korea's Consul General in Kurdistan Region. They discussed Parliament’s legislative priorities, encouraging investment in Kurdistan and strengthening inter-parliamentary relations.

Speaker Faiq said that Parliament’s priority for the autumn session is reform legislation, especially administrative and financial reforms, in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Dr. Faiq mentioned the importance of investment in the region and said, "We will encourage foreign companies to invest in Kurdistan, which will support our economic development especially in the sectors of reconstruction and finance.

The Speaker asked Mr. Choi to encourage Korean companies to look at the invest opportunities in Kurdistan Region.

Dr. Faiq said that some laws or bills from the Iraqi Council of Representatives have a negative impact on the people of Kurdistan and this should be problem dealt with.

The Speaker added, "Kurdistan Parliament supports the Kurdistan Regional Government in their dialogue with the Federal Government to resolve outstanding problems according to the Iraqi constitution. We will closely observe the laws.”

Consul General Choi said that South Korea and Kurdistan Region enjoy a close friendship. Parliament’s and Government’s work on reforms are a positive step, he said. He gave his support to resolving outstanding problems with the Federal Government according to the Iraqi constitution.
