Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets Qatar's Ambassador Khalid Hamad Al Sleti
Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 29 September welcomed Ambassador Khalid Hamad Al Sleti, Qatar’s envoy to Iraq. They discussed strengthening parliamentary relations and encouraging investment to develop Kurdistan’s economy.
Ambassador Al Sleti conveyed greetings from Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Shura Council, Ahmed bin Abdulla Mahmou and said, “His Excellency will ask the Speaker of the Shura Council to visit Kurdistan Parliament in order to closely coordinate and collaborate on the economy, trade and investment based on Kurdistan’s experience in these areas.”
Speaker Faiq thanked Ambassador Al Sleti and hoped that the diplomats in Iraq can play a positive role to help resolve the problems between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government of Iraq.
Regarding conflicts in the Middle East and the risk of new wars, the Speaker said, “Kurdistan does not want to be dragged into conflicts. We have a policy of keeping out of regional conflicts.”
Ambassador Al Sleti stated that soon the Consulate of Qatar will be open in Erbil, which will strengthen bilateral relations and will encourage companies to look at Kurdistan Region as an investment destination.
