Parliament Speaker welcomes Kurdistan Lawyers Syndicate

Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiaq on 12 September welcomed members of the Kurdistan Lawyers’ Syndicate. She said that the Iraqi Council of Representatives (COR) has violated many laws and several articles of the Iraqi Constitution, by passing legislation that harm the people of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Region.

The Lawyers Syndicate delegation congratulated Dr. Faiq on her election as Speaker and briefed her on their relations with the official institutions in the Region especially the Kurdistan Parliament. They also expressed their readiness to increase cooperation with the legislative institution on enacting laws and resolutions.

The speaker outlined the latest political developments and Parliament’s attempts to resolve Baghdad-Erbil disagreements within the framework of the Iraqi Constitution, especially the legal and constitutional violations against Kurdistan including the Financial Management Law, the Provincial Elections Law and the Civil Service Law.

The delegation informed the Speaker that members of their Syndicate have registered lawsuits against laws passed by the COR that violate the Iraqi Constitution.
