Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets Speaker of Iraq's Council of Representatives Muhammad Halbousi
Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 19 September received the President of Iraq's Council of Representatives, Mr. Muhammad Halbousi, at Erbil International Airport. Speaker Faiq stressed the need for a strong relationship between the two parliaments, and asked Mr. Halbousi to play a positive role by supporting the rights of the Kurdistani people in the Iraq 2020 budget, and to foster mutual understanding between all Iraqis.
Speaker Faiq said that bills against the constitutional rights of people of Kurdistan and Iraq should not be allowed to be passed. She added that all sides need to work together in order to serve all Iraqis.
Kurdistan Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci also took part in the meeting with Speaker Halbousi.
Speaker Halbousi said that he was delighted to visit the Kurdistan Region and to be received by the Presidency of Parliament. He emphasized that he supports strengthening relations between Erbil and Baghdad. He said the Iraqi Parliament works on drafting bills in coordination with Kurdish blocs. To strengthen their relationship, he promised to revisit Kurdistan with a delegation.
