Deputy Speaker Hawrami and WHO officials discuss Coronavirus containment measures

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 28 April welcomed a delegation from the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO), headed by the Iraq Representative Dr. Adham Rashad Ismail. MPs of Parliament’s Health Committee also participated in the meeting.

Dr. Rashad thanked the Kurdistan Region’s authorities for their measures against the Coronavirus outbreak, which has helped to contain the number of infections and prevent more deaths.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami thanked WHO for their assistance and briefed the WHO delegation on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s preventive measures and on the follow-up and scrutiny of the measures by Parliament’s committees.

Parliament’s Presidency and MPs have also been looking into the economic impact of the pandemic and of the preventive measures.
