Speaker Rewas Faiq meets governors of Erbil and Slemani to discuss Coronavirus measures, impact on livelihoods

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq had separate meetings with the governors of Erbil and Slemani on 31 March and 1 April respectively, on the impact of the Coronavirus and the ongoing protective measures.

Speaker Faiq, with the heads of the parliamentary blocs and the Chief of the Diwan, separately met the Governor of Erbil Firsat Sofi, the Governor of Slemani Haval Abubakir, with the respective provincial council leaders, council members and staff.

Speaker Faiq thanked Erbil and Slemani governorates, the High Commission on the Coronavirus, doctors nurses, and security forces who have worked tirelessly to protect the public’s health, counter the spread of Coronavirus, and maintain security.

The officials agreed to consult with the government and the governorate on how to help people on low-incomes who cannot work because of the lockdown.

Speaker Faiq also thanked the public in Kurdistan who have been largely adhering to the lockdown and earlier measures. She said that the lockdown should not be allowed to raise inflation in the market.
