Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee
9 December - The committee, led by the chair Dr. Rebwar Babkayi (KDP), welcomed a delegation from Belgium’s parliament led by MP Georges Dallemagne, a member of the lower chamber’s Foreign Relations Committee.
Dr. Babkayi thanked Belgium for their support and friendship with the people of Kurdistan Region and for Belgium’s participation in the Global Coalition to defeat ISIS.
The Kurdistan Parliament committee and the Belgian MPs hoped that this visit will be a launchpad for closer relations between their two parliaments.
They agreed on forming a friendship group and both agreed that a conference to discuss relations between Kurdistan Region and Baghdad would be beneficial.
The Belgian MPs expressed their support for Kurdistan Region's financial rights. The committee and Belgian MPs held a joint press conference after the meeting.
9 December - The committee, led by the chair Dr. Rebwar Babkayi (KDP), on the same day held their regular meeting. The meeting was dedicated to discussing how to scrutinize the KRG's representations abroad in the conduct of their responsibilities and in serving the Kurdistani community abroad. After intense discussions between the committee members, the MPs decided to ask the head and staff of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations for a meeting on the subject soon.
Social Affairs and Protection of Human Rights Committee
9 December - The committee met with the family of a prisoner diagnosed with cancer. The committee had previously visited the Prison Directorate in Erbil and had met with the prisoner, who asked for help with medical treatment. The committee delivered the request to the Ministry of Health, which responded positively.
