MPs visit villages in Akre that were attacked by outsiders
Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 3 December visited the villages of Kashkawa and Gresor in Akre district to look into attacks on the villages by people from outside the area.
The MPs in the delegation, led by Romeo Hakari (National Union Coalition), were Farid Yaqub Eliya (Al-Rafidain), Klara Odisho Yaqub (Klara Bafro), Robina Oimalek Aziz Mamluk (National Union Coalition) and Zekri Zebari (PUK).
In Gresor village the MPs met with some Kurdish families who were there, to explain the purpose of their visit and to hear their views.
Then the MPs met with Assyrians in Kashkawa, and decided to direct a report on both sides’ views to Parliament’s Presidency to decide on.
The delegation met with the mayor and representatives of Kashkawa to gather more information about the situation.
The MPs promised to forward their views’ in their report to Parliament's Presidency.
On 24 November, Assyrian, Syriac and Chaldean MPs in a memorandum asked Parliament’s Presidency to follow up on attackers on both villages of Kashkawa and Gresor by people from outside the area. Kurdistan Parliament decided to send a delegation to the area to look into the situation in detail.
