Kurdistan Parliament honours victims of the Anfal genocide in Jafati Valley

22 February - Two MPs of the Kurdistan Parliament participated in the 32nd commemoration of Anfal genocide in Doli Jafati (the Jafati Valley). MPs Mr. Osman Sedari (PUK) and Mr. Abubakir Haladani (KIU) represented Parliament at the remembrance ceremony.

The MPs reiterated Parliament's support for the families of the victims of the tragedy.

In 1988 the Ba'ath regime attacked the the Jafati Valley (Doli Jafati) area with chemical weapons and killed hundreds of residents, and deported families to prisons in the deserts of southern Iraq.

The killings and deportations were part of the Ba'ath regime's Anfal campaign of genocide against the Kurds that was perpetrated in many areas of Kurdistan.
