Committees’ recent meetings – 22 January 2020
A summary of Kurdistan Parliament committees' recent meetings and activities:
Health and Consumer Rights Committee
20 January - The committee held a workshop, in coordination with Parliament’s Research Centre, to prepare a bill on the rights and responsibilities of healthcare workers.
The workshop was attended by the staff of several KRG ministries, including the ministries of Health, Labour and Social Affairs, Interior, and Finance and the Economy.
Dr. Sabah Zebari (KDP), chair of the Health Committee, stressed the importance of the Bill and said that the committee is consulting with experts and holding such workshops to prepare the legislation.
The specialists and experts at the workshop shared their suggestions and comments on the Bill.
The committee decided that they will review and incorporate the participants’ suggestions into the Bill, and will prepare their final report on it which will be sent to Parliament’s Presidency once completed.
The current draft of the Healthcare Workers Bill consists of 13 was prepared by members of the committee and their advisers.
Agriculture and Irrigation Committee
21 January – The committee members led by the chair, Mr. Abdulsatar Majeed (KIG), met with representatives of beekeepers in the Kurdistan Region and discussed their ongoing problems, which they believe is due to failing to hold a beekeepers conference since 2011. The committee decided to invite the administration of the Kurdistan Beekeepers Association to hear their problems in detail and help to find solutions.
