Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with Italy's Consul Ms. Serena Muroni

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 9 January met with Ms. Serena Muroni, Italy’s Consul in Erbil.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Consul Muroni discussed the recent events in Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Mr. Hawrami briefed Ms. Muroni on the statement by the three presidencies of the Kurdistan Region following their meeting yesterday. The presidencies of the Region, of the Kurdistan Parliament, and of the Government jointly called for de-escalation of the tensions and conflict, and called for a resolution to problems through dialogue and diplomacy. The Deputy Speaker said that the Kurdistan Region does not want to get dragged into a conflict.

 The presidencies of the Kurdistan Region also believe that the continued support of coalition forces in the fight against terror is essential, as there is a real risk of the resurgence of terrorists especially near Kirkuk.

Ms. Muroni and Mr. Hawrami also discussed relations and cooperation between Kurdistan Region and Italy in many sectors.
