Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside KRG Administrative Area
27 February - The committee, led by the chair Ms. Jiwan Rojbayani KDP), met with British Consulate officials. They discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdish areas outside the KRG area, the ongoing process of Arabization, and threats against Kurdish people in these areas.
Security in the city of Kirkuk was also discussed, because as well as the issue of Arabization, security threats from ISIS are also increasing. The committee stressed that the Peshmerga forces are ready to protect the areas.
The British Consulate officials said that they want good relations between Baghdad and Erbil, and they consider as very important establishing lasting security in Kurdistan and the Kurdish areas outside of the KRG administrative area.
Municipalities, Transport, Communication, Travel and Tourism Committee
26 February- The committee, led by the chair Mr. Luqman Wardi (PUK), visited the Kurdistan Region Tourism Board and met the chairman Mr. Mawlawi Jabar.
Mr. Jabar gave a summary of the tourism board's activities in previous months. Mr. Wardi thanked the board for its efforts to develop tourism in Kurdistan and to work with the committee.
Both sides agreed on the need for a special law on tourism in Kurdistan, and decided to work together to prepare a Kurdistan tourism bill in the future.
The meeting also discussed issuing a set of guidelines for preventing Corona virus in public places, including hotels, restaurants, and tourist sites.
