Committees' recent meetings - 4 March 2020
Protection of Women's Rights Committee
27 February- The committee, led by the chair Ms. Lanja Dizayee (KDP), visited the Kurdistan High Council of Women’s Affairs.
They discussed the need for greater coordination between the Parliament Committee and the High Council on areas related to the protection of women's rights, within the framework of the principles of human rights and democracy.
They agreed that a healthy society is based on maintaining women's dignity and rights.
The High Council of Women’s Affairs pledged to coordinate and work closely with the committee.
Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside KRG Administrative Area
26 February- The committee, led by the chair Ms. Jiwan Rojbayani (KDP), held their usual meeting. Ms. Rojbayani briefed the committee on the meeting of Kurdish political party representatives in Kirkuk in which she took part.
She said, "There were several proposals made at the meeting, which were presented to the three presidencies of Kurdistan Region."
The Committee also discussed the political, administrative, and security situation for citizens in the Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area, which are covered by Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution.
The committee decided to visit the areas in the future to be update themselves on the current situation.
Peshmerga Committee
26 February - The committee, led by the chair Mr. Reving Heruri (KDP), held their weekly meeting.
The MPs planned the committee’s work and meetings for the new spring session.
Senior officials at the Peshmerga Ministry have asked to meet the committee to discuss the problems facing Peshmerga forces and to find a suitable mechanism for their resolution.
The committee stressed that there must be continued oversight of the laws specific to the Peshmerga forces.
The committee responded in detail to all the comments, complaints, and requests sent to them.
