Speaker Rewas Faiq congratulates Iraq’s new Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 12 May wrote to Iraq’s new Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi on his appointment, after winning the vote of confidence of Iraq’s Council of Representatives:

Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Prime Minister of the Federal Government, I congratulate you on your inauguration and on gaining the approval of the Council of Representatives for your cabinet. 

We are aware of the challenges that you have inherited from the government at this juncture, and we expect you to work to establish justice and democracy and to lay the groundwork for building understanding and achieving reconciliation.

We want relations between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to be strengthened, and the bilateral and outstanding problems between them to be resolved in accordance with the Constitution and based on the principle of partnership.

We trust in your ability to achieve these goals, and we declare our full support for you.
