Kurdistan Parliament invites applications for Head of Independent Human Rights Commission

The Kurdistan Parliament invites applications from the public for the position of Head of the Kurdistan Region Independent Human Rights Commission, and asks applicants to submit their CV to the Directorate of Parliament Affairs. The details of how to apply and the application criteria are as follows:

Announcement

Per paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 5 of the Law on the Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission (Law No. 4 of 2010), the Kurdistan Parliament announces to the public of Kurdistan Region that it welcomes applications for the position of Head of the Kurdistan Region Independent Human Rights Commission, and asks applicants to present their CV to the Directorate of Parliament Affairs and Committees (Parliament Affairs section).

The deadline for applications is 15 days from publication of this announcement in Kurdish on Parliament’s website.

Per paragraph 3 of Article 5 of the Law, the minimum criteria for this position are:

  1. Minimum qualification of a university degree in a human rights related subject; strong abilities and experience in the field of human rights.
  2. The applicant must be of good character and must not have been sentenced to a prison term for a crime.
  3. The applicant, if successful, must make a written pledge to be impartial and non-partisan throughout their tenure.
  4. The applicant must not have abetted or participated in any crimes committed by the previous regime.
