Speaker Rewaz Faiq congratulates journalists on 123rd anniversary of Kurdish journalism
On the 123rd Anniversary of Kurdish journalism, my warmest wishes go out to all journalists in Kurdistan, and my hope is that this anniversary is an opportunity for a new beginning in the development of Kurdish journalism in every respect, especially in terms of freedom of expression, freedom of journalistic work, and adherence to the law and journalistic ethics in terms of principles of social responsibility, human rights and national security.
The Kurdistan Parliament on 21 April 2021 passed a Resolution to formally designate this occasion as Kurdish Journalism Day. I convey my best wishes to all journalists of Kurdistan. I support honest writers who seek the truth, defend people’s rights and freedoms, demand our nation’s rights, refuse to be writers without journalistic ethics and bravely choose to champion a responsible and honest media.
