Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq attends Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's swearing-in ceremony

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 5 August 2021 attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's newly elected President Ebrahim Raisi.

The next day, Speaker Faiq with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and a Kurdistan Regional Government delegation held a meeting with President Raisi.

The discussions were on the historic and close cultural relations between Kurdistan Region and Iran. Both sides emphasized strengthening the relationship and increasing cultural and commercial exchanges.

They also discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the wider region, and stressed that maintaining peace in the region is essential for stability and for the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.

The Kurdistan Region delegation also met with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the new Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament).

The meeting emphasized Iraq’s and Kurdistan Region’s ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran as neighbouring countries, based on mutual interest and the importance of maintaining peace and security.
