Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets with Germany's Consul General Klemens Semtner

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 17 August welcomed Mr. Klemens Semtner, Germany’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

Speaker Faiq and Consul General Semtner discussed the plans for the next legislative session of Parliament, the autumn session scheduled to begin in September after the summer recess.

The Speaker emphasized that the priority will be to work on legislation that will strengthen Kurdistan's economic infrastructure, revitalise the market, improve the economy and support domestic products.

Dr. Faiq also briefed Mr. Semtner about the laws passed in the previous legislative session, and said that in this current four-year term of Parliament the aim is to create strong foundations to diversify the economy and reduce Kurdistan Regions’ dependence on oil.

Mr. Semtner expressed his support for the positive steps being taken by the Kurdistan Parliament. He said he hopes that once the Coronavirus health situation worldwide is under control, relations between the Kurdistan Parliament and the German Federal Parliament can be developed to share knowledge and benefit from each other’s working methods and legislative processes.
