Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with Ms. Barbara Egger, EU's Head of Cooperation in Iraq

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 12 December 2021 met with Ms. Barbara Egger, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Iraq. They discussed how the EU can advise and support the Kurdistan Parliament in its legislative and oversight work.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami gave an overview of this Parliament’s achievements in passing reform and good governance laws. He said that this current term of Parliament has been the most active in scrutinizing the authorities, with a very large number of written and oral questions to ministers, as well as many sittings and committee meetings with ministers responding to MPs’ questions.

Dr. Hawrami welcomed Ms. Egger’s suggestion that the EU can provide support and expertise for Parliament’s legislative and oversight work.

Dr. Hawrami and Ms. Egger discussed building more ties between the Kurdistan Parliament and the EU Parliament.
