Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets with Head of Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission Dr. Muna Yukhna Yaqu

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 19 December 2021 welcomed Dr. Muna Yukhna Yaqu, the Head of the Kurdistan Region Independent Human Rights Commission.

At their meeting attended by the Commission’s general managers and advisers, Speaker Faiq stressed the importance of the independence of the Human Rights Commission as well as all the other commissions established under laws passed by Parliament.

Dr. Faiq said, "The Independent Human Rights Commission should be administratively and financially independent, and no political party or side should interfere in their work. All their logistical and financial needs should be provided."

Dr. Yaqu thanked Speaker Faiq for her continued support and said, "We will of course fulfill the responsibilities that we have been entrusted with.”

The Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission was established by and is regulated under Kurdistan Region's Law No. 4 of 2010.
