Deputy Speaker Hawrami and MPs meet with Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 14 February together with standing committee MPs met with the Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission, headed by Mr. Zia Petros.

MPs from the Parliament committees on Social Affairs and Protection of Human Rights, and Protection of Women’s Rights, took part in the meeting.

The MPs asked Mr. Petros about the Commission’s annual report for 2020, the situation and number of detainees and prison inmates, and the human rights situation in the Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area.

Dr. Hawrami also asked the Commission about their coordination and relations with international human rights organizations.

Mr. Petros and his staff provided statistics and information in answer to the MPs’ questions.
