Committees' recent meetings - 9 January 2021
A summary of Kurdistan Parliament's committees' recent meetings and activities:
Integrity Committee
6 January - The committee, led by the chair Shirin Amin (Change), held their regular meeting. The MPs discussed the case of 6 billion euros that Aborland Company allegedly transferred abroad, and which had been raised to the committee for investigation by MP Karwan Gazneyi (PUK).
The MPs also gave their views on the request by the Head of Kurdistan’s Integrity Commission to raise the retirement age of five judges.
Martyrs’ Affairs, Genocide and Political Prisoners Committee
6 January - The committee, led by the chair Sawsan Muhammad Mirkhan (KDP), discussed visiting each governorate’s directorate for martyrs’ affairs, to scrutinize their work and understand their challenges.
The MPs decided to set up three sub-committees to carry out the visits.
The meeting began with a minute’s silence in remembrance of Kurdistan’s martyrs, and reading and responding to the letters and requests sent to the committee.
