Speaker Faiq meets with UNFPA Deputy Representative Himyar Abdulmoghni

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 26 January welcomed UNFPA Iraq Deputy Representative, Himyar Abdulmoghni, and Mr. Jamal Hussein, General Director of Youth at the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Culture and Youth, and their colleagues.

They discussed the current environment and situation for young people, and Speaker Faiq said, "Young people all over the world represent the future and development of their nations at all levels, they are the real future of in all sectors and fields of life, and the government and relevant institutions have a duty to provide a suitable environment where young people can thrive. All parties must as their duty support and assist this influential part of our society.”

A quantative report on the 2019 Kurdistan Region National Adolescent and Youth Survey, prepared by UNFPA and the KRG Ministry of Culture and Youth, was presented to Speaker Faiq for the Kurdistan Parliament’s follow-up.

Dr. Faiq thanked them for their initiative and said that the report will be given to Parliament’s relevant standing committees to benefit from the report’s findings and use it in their work.
