Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with Iran’s Consul General in Erbil Nasrollah Rashnoudi

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 30 June welcomed Mr. Nasrollah Rashnoudi, Iran’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region.

They discussed the latest developments in Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region, the drafting of the Kurdistan Constitution, Iraq’s regional relations, the next Iraqi elections, the threat posed by ISIS and Kurdistan Region-Iran relations.

On behalf of the Kurdistan Parliament, Dr. Hawrami congratulated the Consul General on Iran’s presidential election and the success of Ibrahim Raisi. He gave an overview of the political and financial situation and the efforts to draft the Kurdistan Constitution, emphasizing the need to protect the rights of all the original ethnic and religious component communities of Kurdistan Region, the mechanism for its drafting and the views of the Parliamentary parties.

Dr. Hawrami said that Kurdistan Region and Iran have long-standing historic ties and he stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas, especially between the Kurdistan Parliament and the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

Consul General Nasrollah agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral relations and invited a Kurdistan Parliament delegation to visit the Islamic Consultative Assembly in Iran to exchange parliamentary information and expertise.
