Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with head of Chaldean League Safai Hindi

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 23 June met with Mr. Safa Sabah Hindi, the head of the Chaldean League, and his staff.

MP Janan Jabar Boya (National Union Coalition) participated in the meeting.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami discussed peaceful coexistence between all Kurdistan Region's communities, the implementation of drafting Kurdistan Region's Constitution, and the situation for Christian IDPs in Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami emphasized the need to protect the rights of the communities of Kurdistan Region and said “Kurdistan Region’s ethnic and religious components are the fabric of Kurdistan’s society, and they have lived in the blessed land of Kurdistan throughout history, sharing both the joys and sufferings of the Kurdistani people”.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that the Law on the Rights of the Components in Kurdistan Region enshrined the cultural, political and social rights of communities, and explained the attempts by Kurdistan Parliament to draft the Kurdistan Constitution, the previous stages of its drafting, Kurdistan Parliament’s strong belief that Kurdistan Region should have a Constitution, and protecting the rights of the communities in it.

Mr. Hindi commended the peaceful coexistence in Kurdistan Region and said, “Kurdistan Region is a model of coexistence for the region, and deserves the respect of all parties”.

He also appreciated Kurdistan Region for hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees and IDPs.
