Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with new Head of Japan's Consular Office Mr. Mikihiro Arakawa

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 2 June met with Mr. Mikihiro Arakawa, the new Head of Japan’s Consular Office in Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami congratulate Mr. Arakawa on his new position and presented the current situation and latest developments in Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.

Dr. Hawrami said he hopes that relations between the Kurdistan Region and Japan can be strengthened, and that Mr. Arakawa can play an important role in that regard.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami explained Parliament’s work according to its Internal Rules of Procedure, and briefed him on the upcoming Iraqi election and discussions between Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Federal Government on the implementation of the 2021 budget law.

Mr. Arakawa commended the security, stability, and development in Kurdistan Region compared to the other parts of Iraq, and said that he is ready to help strengthen relations between both sides.
