Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with Turkey’s Consul General Mr. Hakan Karacay

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 1 June met with Turkey’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Mr. Hakan Karacay.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Mr. Karacay discussed the political situation in Kurdistan, Parliament’s work, the preparations for working on the Kurdistan Constitution, discussions between the Kurdistan Region Government and the Iraqi Federal Government on the implementation of the 2021 Iraqi budget, and Kurdistan Region’s financial rights.

Regarding the situation in the border areas of Kurdistan Region, on behalf of the Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hawrami expressed his grave concern about the harm to the lives and livelihoods of the villagers in the border area villages of Darkar, Bativa and Kani Masi, caused by the military conflict between Turkey and the PKK.

Dr. Hawrami stressed that Kurdistan Region is against war and violence by any side. He called for the properties of the citizens and the nature in the border areas to be protected, for compensation for those who have suffered damages and destruction, and for an end to the harm to the lives and livelihoods of the villagers.
