Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with Yazidi women campaigners

Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 9 June welcomed Mayan Khatun, the wife of Yazidi Prince Mir Hazem Mir Tahsin Bag, and Yazidi women campaigners.

Yazidi MP Hedya Murad Haider Alo (KDP) and Dr. Khanzad Ahmad Amindari, the General Secretary of the High Council for Women’s Affairs, also participated in the meeting.

The Yazidi activists talked about the great suffering of the Yazidi people, particularly women, at the hands of ISIS terrorists. They asked for the situation in their areas to be normalized, especially in Shengal (Sinjar), and called for the Sinjar Agreement between the KRG and Baghdad to be implemented.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami expressed his sympathy for the crimes and suffering inflicted on the Yazidi Kurds, especially Yazidi women. He stressed that the Kurdistan Parliament supports and calls for the normalization the situation in Shengal and implementation of the Sinjar Agreement.
