Speaker Faiq chairs meeting of Parliament’s legislation advisers and UNITAD on Bill on Court for Crimes of ISIS

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 31 May chaired a consultative meeting between the United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da’esh/ISIL (UNITAD) and Parliament’s legislation advisers.

The participants included Dr. Vala Fareed, KRG Minister for the Region for Parliament Affairs; Dr. Dindar Zebari, KRG International Advocacy Coordinator; Christopher Gosnell, Senior Advisor to UNITAD; and Abbas Fatah Salih (PUK), vice-chair of Parliament’s Legislative Committee.

Speaker Faiq said, “The Bill on the Court for the Crimes of ISIS has some international dimensions, so we want to have a clear idea of the level of cooperation from the international community in this regard.”

Mr. Gosnell explained several legal aspects of the bill, and Mr. Fattah and Parliament's advisers discussed the bill in detail.
