Speaker Rewaz Faiq meets with Head of UNAMI regional office Ricardo Rodriguez

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 22 June met with Mr. Ricardo Rodriguez, the Head of UNAMI’s regional office in Erbil. The latest political developments and the next Iraqi elections were discussed.

Speaker Faiq said she is concerned that the Iraqi elections will lead to more conflict, and that she hopes for a free and fair election in which any disputes will be resolved according to the law.

On the Kurdistan Region's Constitution, she said: "Writing the Kurdistan Region's Constitution is an important process, it needs national cohesion and acceptance from all the ethnic and religious communities who live together in Kurdistan Region, and it must not conflict with the Iraqi Constitution. That's why the Constitution drafting process will be conducted in detail."
