Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 23 June welcomed Mr. Jafar Wanan, the head of the Iraqi Media Network's Security Council.

Speaker Faiq and Mr. Wanan discussed the general state of the media in Iraq and Kurdistan, and both sides emphasized the need for a unified media discourse.

The Speaker said, "Kurdistan Parliament supports the responsible media, and now social media is having a negative impact on societal and mental stability. We hope that coordination between official state organizations and media experts can help to solve social problems.”

Dr. Faiq focused on media freedom and the right to obtain information, and she expressed Parliament’s support for unifying media discourses and for a responsible constructive media.

Mr. Wanan expressed his views on the relations between Erbil and Baghdad and on coordinating media discourses.
