Speaker Rewaz Faiq and Culture Committee convey condolences on passing of historian Dr. Kamal Maz’har
To the family of the late Professor Kamal Maz’har Ahmed, writers and academics of Kurdistan,
I am saddened to learn of the passing of the great Kurdish historian, Professor Kamal Maz’har Ahmed, one of the most prominent researchers and historians of our nation, devoting most of his life to the legitimate cause of Kurds and the history of his people.
The passing of this great academic and researcher of history has left a void in the canon of Kurdish writing that will be hard to fill.
On this sad occasion I express my condolences and pray that God gives you strength and patience in your grief. May his soul rest in peace.

The passing of Dr Kamal Maz’har, which coincides with the anniversary of the chemical bombing of Halabja, is a great loss to the culture and academia of Kurdistan. His death leaves a void in the writing of our history that cannot be easily filled.
Dr Kamal, a symbol of our culture for decades, has left a body of work that fills us with pride.
We convey our condolences to the writers, intellectuals and family of our people’s historian.
