Committees' recent meetings - 5 May 2021
A summary of Kurdistan Parliament's committees' recent work and meetings:
Integrity Committee
5 May – The committee, led by the chair Shirin Amin (Change), discussed the proposal to amend the Law on the Kurdistan Integrity Commission.
The committee decided to hold a meeting with the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Head of the Integrity Commission and the Head of the Judicial Council to make the necessary decisions at the end of this month.
The MPs also discussed the second report by Kurdistan’s High Committee for Reform on the implementation of the Reform Law. The committee decided to hold a meeting with Dr. Abdulhakim Khasro, the Head of the High Committee for Reform, and Dr. Ahmad Anwar, the Head of the Integrity Commission.
Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside KRG Administrative Area
5 May - The committee, led by chair Jiwan Yunis Rojbayani (KDP), discussed the Bill on the Criminal Court in Kurdistan Region for Crimes by ISIS.
They also discussed the recent attack by ISIS terrorists on the Peshmerga near Prde, which is in the Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administration. The committee decided to send a report to the KRG calling on it to make security arrangements with the Iraqi federal government as soon as possible.
The committee read all the notes and requests directed to them, some of them were answered, and others were sent to Parliament’s Presidency for further work.
Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Committee
5 May - The committee, led by chair Abdusalam Dolamari (KDP), decided to form two subcommittees, one to look into the problems raised by students at the Erbil branch of Cihan University, and one to visit the General Directorate of Examinations to closely monitor the exams results process.
All the letters and requests sent to the committee were answered and several of them were directed to the relevant authorities.
