Speaker Faiq congratulates workers on International Workers’ Day

On International Workers’ Day, my best wishes go out to the workers of Kurdistan, Iraq and the world.

On this important occasion we commend the vital role of workers in rebuilding the country. The revitalization and renewal of any sector or area of life is only been possible through the tireless efforts of workers.

The Kurdistan Parliament supports all the legitimate demands of workers, and supports their organized campaigns and efforts through syndicates to improve their welfare and livelihoods and receive insurance and pensions.

We support the rights of national workers. The government must monitor the rate of foreign workers employed by companies, so that the opportunities and livelihoods for national workers are not affected.

Labour and social security laws should be implemented in full, and the Kurdistan Parliament will pave the way for any bill that strengthens workers' rights and provides them with a decent life.
