Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with France's Consul General Olivier Decottignies

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 22 November 2021 met with France's Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Mr. Olivier Decottignies. On this 10-year commemoration of the passing of Madame Danielle Mitterrand, Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that France's First Lady, who was a champion of the Kurdish cause, has a special place in the hearts and memories of the Kurdistani people. 

MPs Robina Oimalek (National Union Coalition) and Sara Chawshli (Turkmen Development Party) participated in the meeting.

Dr. Hawrami gave Consul General Decottignies an overview of Parliament's current discussions about the Kurdistan Election Law, the need to reactivate the Kurdistan Independent High Election Commission, and a committee to draft the Kurdistan Constitution.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that the Christian, Turkmen and Armenian components' right to political representation must be protected.
