Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes National Democratic Institute’s MENA Director Mr. Leslie Campbell

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 1 November 2021 welcomed Mr. Leslie Campbell, the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) MENA region director, and his colleagues.

Speaker Faiq highlighted the problems and working methods in this current fifth term of Parliament, and the challenges in the legislative process.

Speaker Faiq thanked NDI for its capacity-building and legislative assistance and advice to the Kurdistan Parliament’s MPs and administration.

NDI has been actively supporting the Kurdistan Parliament through many training courses and workshops on items of legislation and the oversight process.

Speaker Faiq said, "The NDI is one of the organizations that is working really hard with us to develop Parliament’s and MPs’ capacity."

Mr. Fuad Ahmed Suleiman, Director of Parliament’s Research Centre, gave an overview of planned work and activities.

Mr. Campbell thanked Speaker Faiq for her feedback on NDI’s work and said that he hopes NDI can do more work with the Kurdistan Parliament in the future.
