Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami welcomes new Head of EU Liaison Office Marie Paret

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 21 September welcomed the new Head of the EU Liaison Office in Erbil, Ms. Marie Paret.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Ms. Paret discussed the political, economic and security situation, the forthcoming Iraqi parliament elections, and the possibility of strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Parliament and the European Parliament.

The Deputy Speaker congratulated Ms. Paret on her posting to Kurdistan Region and wished her success. He said that the Kurdistan Parliament hopes to develop relations with the European Parliament.

Dr. Hawrami said that the EU election observation mission as well as other international observers have an important role in ensuring a free and fair vote in the forthcoming Iraqi election. He said that observation is needed across the country, including in the disputed territories.
