Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes new Head of EU Liaison Office Marie Paret

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 21 September welcomed Ms. Marie Paret, the new Head of the European Union Liaison Office in Kurdistan Region. They discussed the latest political developments and the importance of a free and fair vote in the forthcoming Iraqi elections.

They discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and Kurdistan, and the regional situation.

Speaker Faiq said that Iraq is going through a critical stage, and will continue to face challenges after the elections. She hoped for a free and fair vote, without fraud or human rights abuses and with the participation of all of Iraq’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.  

The Speaker emphasized the important role of the the international community in observing the elections and contributing to a positive outcome.

Ms. Paret said that she hoped that after the Iraqi elections more progress and fundamental reforms can be made for the benefit of all Iraqis.
