Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and IOM delegation discuss prevention of violent extremism

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 28 August 2022 received a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM): Islam Al-Ghazouli Program Director; Patricia Crosby, Program Manager; Ali Zedan, Project Manager; and Kamaran Mohammed, Adviser on the prevention of violent extremism.

The IOM delegation gave Dr. Hawrami an overview of their work in the Kurdistan Region. They explained their aim to carry out a strategic plan to prevent and counter violent extremism in the Kurdistan Region through the Kurdistan Regional Government, similar to their strategy in Iraq.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami commended the IOM for their work. He said that the Kurdistan Parliament is ready to support their national plan, through Parliament’s standing committees, to prevent extremism and fight violence and conflicts of all kinds.
