Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with UK's Consul General David Hunt

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 24 August 2022 welcomed Mr. David Hunt, the UK’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region. They discussed the latest political developments and the next Kurdistan Parliament election.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Consul General Hunt exchanged views on the political, security and economic situation in Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the wider region, as well as the current political deadlock in Iraq and the challenges to finding solutions.

Dr. Hawrami outlined the ongoing talks between Kurdistan’s political parties and parliamentary blocs on the next Kurdistan Parliament election and Kurdistan High Election Commission. He stressed the importance of holding elections in a timely manner.

Consul General Hunt said that the UK supports Kurdistan Region’s democratic experience and development, as an example for the region.
