Kurdistan Parliament hosts the Youth Own the Platform (YOP) annual forum

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 28 August 2022 attended the Youth Own the Platform (YOP) annual forum on youth development, entrepreneurship and capacity building.

Twenty young people from different cities and towns of Kurdistan Region participated in the seminar, which was held in the Parliament building.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said, “Your meetings, research and fieldwork on the processes that impact young people, be it political participation or developing Kurdistan’s society, when it comes to matters that concern the legislative authorities, your opinions and suggestions are very important to us.”

Deputy Speaker Hawrami added that in the current term of Parliament both MPs’ bills and government-proposed bills were put to many consultations - through Parliament’s standing committees - with stakeholders such as civil society organizations, syndicates and unions. Their comments and suggestions are into account to enrich draft legislation and this has had a major impact on the legislative process.

Dr. Hawrami said that the Kurdistan Parliament is youthful in terms of wishing to develop and empower Kurdistan’s society.

The participants exchanged views on young people’s and individual’s awareness of national, cultural, educational, religious issues and religious affiliation with the future development line. They decided to send their recommendations to other relevant institutions of KurdistanRegion.
