Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq chairs meeting on Legislative Proposal on the Protection of Domestic and Stray Animals

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2 August 2022 chaired a meeting to work on the Legislative Proposal on the Regulation of the Treatment of Domestic and Stray Animals, an animal welfare bill.

At the meeting, Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Irrigation, and the Committee on Municipalities, Communication, Transport and Tourism discussed the details of the bill.

After suggestions and comments by the participants, the final report on the legislative proposal was prepared and will be scheduled for reading at a sitting in the next legislative session following the summer recess.

To prepare the bill, Speaker Faiq had held several meetings with Parliament’s Board of Legislation Advisers and with animal rights experts and activists.
