Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq chairs meeting with Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and committees on the Labour Bill

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 21 August 2022 chaired a meeting with Labour and Social Affairs Minister Kwestan Muhammad and two committees to prepare an important Labour Bill for its first reading.

Minister Kwestan Muhammad and Labour and Social Affairs Ministry officials, Parliament’s Legislative Committee and Human Rights and Social Affairs Committee gave their suggestions and recommendations on the details and provisions of the Labour Bill.

Speaker Faiq said, “The Labour Law in Kurdistan Region is very significant, especially in terms of pension and retirement rights and providing life, health and social insurance. In the Kurdistan Parliament we stress that the Labour Law should protect all the valid rights of employees in different sectors, especially given that the Kurdistan Regional Government is taking steps to rebalance the public sector burden.”

"With this in mind, private sector workers’ rights and demands should be properly protected to encourage and strengthen the private sector and provide more job opportunities for young people, so their talents and abilities benefit industry, agriculture and services."
