Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes South Korea's Consul General Mr. Cho Kijoung

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 3 August 2022 welcomed Mr. Cho Kijoung, South Korea’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

Speaker Faiq briefed Consul General Cho on the current political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and she stressed the need to resolve issues through dialogue and understanding.

The Speaker also spoke about the diversity and peaceful coexistence between the ethnic and religious communities in the Kurdistan Region, where everyone freely exercises their rights. She added that the Kurdistan Region has always been a safe haven for IDPs and refugees.

The Speaker thanked the South Korean Consul General for his nation’s assistance to the Kurdistan Region in the past and today, and asked South Korea to support the development of Kurdistan Region’s institutions.

Consul General Cho commended the Kurdistan Region for its prosperity, progress and stability, and hoped that other regions of Iraq will be able to achieve similar success.
