Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq lays wreath at funeral ceremony of Commander Akam Omar

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 17 December 2022 attended the ceremony of the return of the body of Akam Omar, the fallen Commander of the Kurdistan Commando Forces.

Speaker Faiq placed a wreath next to the coffin of Commander Akam, at the ceremony attended by Government, party and military officials.

Commander Akam Omar was injured while on a security operation, when his vehicle drove over a roadside bomb in Garmian. He received medical treatment but did not survive.

ISIS terrorists have continually threatened Kurdistan’s stability and security.

His death is a loss for Kurdistan and has left a void that will be hard to fill.
