Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Kuwait’s new Ambassador to Iraq, Tariq Abdullah Al-Faraj

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 30 November 2022 welcomed Kuwait’s new Ambassador to Iraq, Tariq Abdullah Al-Faraj, and his delegation. They discussed the historic friendship between their nations and their respective parliaments’ work and composition.

Speaker Faiq and Ambassador Al-Faraj in their conversation covered parliamentary issues, women’s political participation, the rights of Kurdistan’s ethnic and religious communities, and the make-up of Kurdistan Parliament’s membership.

They also exchanged views about the importance of peaceful coexistence between different communities, civil liberties and democracy in Kurdistan Region.

Ambassador Al-Faraj gave an overview of the Kuwaiti National Assembly’s work and procedures and the percentage of its women members. The Ambassador said that he was glad to see a woman leading one of the highest institutions of the Kurdistan Region.

They agreed on working to strengthen relations between their legislatures.
