Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami meets with Russia’s Special Representative for Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov

On his official visit to Russia, Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 24 February 2022 met with Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia's Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister, to discuss the long-standing relationship between Kurdistan and Russia and the political situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and the Middle East.

In the meeting at Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations in all fields, to build on the historic relationship between the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and Russia.

Dr. Hemin Hawrami conveyed regards from the Kurdistan Parliament and the political leadership of Kurdistan to Special Representative Bogdanov. He spoke of the long-standing relationship between their respective peoples and governments, and how to strengthen relations in all areas.

They also discussed Russian companies that are working in the Kurdistan Region and the potential for investment in different sectors.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that Russia's role in the region is very important for finding solutions to conflicts, especially in Syria.
